Joe Danni

Senior Vice President

Joe Danni has more than 27 years of experience in the mining industry, having worked at Homestake Mining (1980–1993); Placer Dome, Inc. (1993–2006); and Glamis Gold Ltd. (2006 until his retirement in 2007). Danni was senior vice president of corporate relations at Placer Dome and, subsequently, at Glamis Gold. In those capacities he had responsibility for community relations, investor relations, government relations, and public relations; he also served on the firm’s Executive Committee and chaired the Disclosure Committee.

Danni has extensive work experience in Latin America, Africa, Australia, Asia-Pacific, and North America and has conducted country risk evaluations in jurisdictions proposed for corporate investment as well as locations where a company is well established. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Mining Association and Gold Institute. Danni is currently on the Board of the Oil, Gas and Mining Landman Program at Western State College of Colorado. He has been a senior adviser since 2007 to Business for Social Responsibility, a leader in corporate responsibility based in San Francisco; BSR specializes in sustainability integration and community engagement throughout the world.

Danni has been a frequent speaker at industry and academic forums on subjects ranging from the impact of mining on human rights to the social license to conduct mining operations.
